Cody Loses The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship To Nick Aldis At NWA’s 70th Anniversary Show

The mighty has fallen.

On September 1st at The Young Bucks and Cody’s self-financed and sold out ‘All In’ event, Cody defeated Nick Aldis to become the new NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion in front of 10,000 fans who were live in attendance and in front of the thousands watching from their own personal spaces. Cody would go on to hop on a wave of momentum as he successfully defended the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title in Ring Of Honor and along the way he captured the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Championship.

Waiting to dry up Cody’s wave of momentum was Nick Aldis. The two were set for a rematch at NWA’s 70th Anniversary Show in 2-Out-Of-Three Falls match. At ringside for the match was Kamilla who accompanied Aldis to the ring and Cody was accompanied per usual by his wife Brandi Rhodes.

The contest between Aldis and Cody stretched throughout ‘The Asylum’ and it was Aldis who picked up the first fall, Cody followed up by getting the second fall and in a surprising finish Aldis and Cody traded “small packages” but Aldis was able to get the advantage and leaned his weight down on Cody for the final fall and now Aldis is a two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.
