New Women’s Champion Crowned On RAW
On a night that RAW was initially advertised as the show being guest-hosted by Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson, the story of the night was the new RAW Women's Champion.
In the main event of this week's RAW, Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte by forcing her to submit to the Banks Statement to close out the show. It was the first time that a women's championship match closed RAW since Lita and Trish Stratus had a WWE Women's Championship Match in 2004. This is Banks' second reign as the RAW Women's Champion.
Banks' journey to becoming a champion on the main roster had been a long one since making her debut in the summer of 2015. After she had become a singles star, she had been on and off television for several months. After failing to win the title at this year's WrestleMania, Banks finally won the title earlier this summer, but lost it to Charlotte at this year's SummerSlam.
Banks was put on the shelf briefly as she was recovering from injuries. When she returned, she teased that she had 'bad news,' which ended up being for Charlotte — that Sasha was healthy and ready to return. The show also featured a video package chronicling Charlotte and Banks' feud throughout the last several years, dating all the way back to their days at NXT.
It's worth noting that Charlotte did not have Dana Brooke by her side during the match. Brooke was attacked by Bayley in a backstage segment moments before the main event,
