New Owen Hart Documentary Set To Be Released In 2021
A new documentary focused on Owen Hart is set to be released in 2021.
Screen Daily reports UK-based sales agency Kaleidoscope Film Distribution will handle sales of the film, which is set to release in quarter one of 2021. Initial materials available for viewing during the Marché du Film Online.
Jo Lewis is directing the film, which is produced by Keaton Stone and Western Edge Pictures through Vaughan Sivell. Hart’s wife, Dr Martha Hart, is an executive producer, alongside Kaleidoscope CEO Spencer Pollard and Lee Brazier.
It is unknown if the film will have any WWE or Stampede footage (WWE owns the rights to Stampede footage), but it will include archived family footage. Bret Hart will be featured in an interview along with contributors from the world of wrestling.
In 2018, Keaton Stone revealed Natalya was also interviewed for the project and he traveled to Japan to interview those who knew Owen from his time in NJPW.
Stone told SLAM! Wrestling, “I have Martha’s entire home archive — hours and hours of footage and all her photos — but I’m trying to find as much as possible for the film to be as amazing as it should be in honour of this incredible man.”
Dark Side of the Ring produced a one-hour documentary of the life Owen for their series finale that aired in May. The episode centered around Owen drew the best viewership in series history.
