New Japan Pro Wrestling Presents G1 Climax 29: Dallas Results Kazuchika Okada vs Hiroshi Tanahashi

The 29th edition of the New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax tournament kicks off tonight at 6PM in Dallas, Texas on AXS TV!

Good evening Fight Fans, we hope you are ready for what is arguably the best professional wrestling tournament around, the yearly G1 Climax tournament which kicks off tonight in Dallas, Texas!

-We open the show with a video package for the all of the competitors involved in the the tournament matches tonight, headlined by Kazuchika Okada versus Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Roppongi 3K vs Guerrillas of Destiny

3K clear the ring when GOD go for a surprise attack before hitting topes and high fiving fans on the ramp before 3K double up on Tama. Tama ducks out of the ring and Loa hits a double clothesline before Tama sends Yoh into the railing, Loa hitting Sho with a running powerslam. Tama drops Sho with strikes and hits a slam before Loa hits a slingshot senton, Loa slamming Sho before Tama hits a slingshot senton of his own. The crowd erupts for Sho who counters Tama, but Loa hits him from behind before spearing Tama and tagging Yoh in. Yoh dropkicks Tama and hits him with elbows before hitting a flying forearm and a running back elbow in the corner into a half hatch suplex for a quick two count.

Tama counters a superkick into a back drop driver and Yoh counters the gun stun into a superkick before 3K hit stereo knees to GOD. 3K then tease their finisher before Tama hits a cutter and Loa hits a super powerbomb for the pin and the win.

Winner: Guerrillas of Destiny defeat Roppongi 3K via pinfall when Loa pins Sho with the super powerbomb.

-We get a recap of yesterday’s press conference.

Ren Narita & Jeff Cobb vs Shota Umino & Tomohiro Ishii

Jeff and Ishii start the match off to the elation of the crowd, the two exchanging forearms and trying to knock each other over before Jeff dropkicks Ishii, but he doesn’t budge and Ishii drops him with a shoulder block. Ren and Shota come in and grapple before Shota hits Ren with European uppercuts and tags Ishii in. Ishii chops Ren in the corner before Ren hits him with everything he has until he rocks Ishii, but Ishii immediately drops him with a shoulder tackle. Ren counters a suplex into one of his own and tags in Jeff who hits double overhead belly to back suplexes and a delayed suplex to Ishii. Jeff hits a variation of Tour of the Islands for a near fall before they exchange forearms until Ishii ducks a lariat and hits a dead lift German suplex. Shota gets the tag and hits a missile dropkick before hitting a running uppercut in the corner and suplexing Jeff for a near fall. Everyone then hits a move until Jeff hits a standing moonsault for a near fall and the Tour of the Islands to Shota for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jeff Cobb and Ren Narita defeat Shota Umino and Tomohiro Ishii when Jeff pins Shota with the Tour of the Islands.

-Jeff and Ishii brawl after the match until they’re broken up my officials and Ishii leaves as we go to commercial.

Jay White & Chase Owens w/Gedo vs YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto

Goto and Owens start the match before Jay attacks Goto from behind and Chase knocks Yoshi from the apron. Gedo distracts Goto before Chase dropkicks Goto and Goto comes back with a discus lariat before Yoshi chops Chase and hits a draping dropkick for a one count. Yoshi gets distracted by both Jay and Gedo before Chase sends him throat first into the top rope and Jay sends him into the apron repeatedly before rolling him back into the ring, Chase getting a quick two count. Yoshi counters a suplex into a neckbreaker, but Chase is quick to make the tag to Jay who keeps him from tagging in Goto. Yoshi finally makes the tag and Goto drops Jay repeatedly before hitting a clothesline in the corner into a high angle back drop driver and a trip into a single leg crab.

Goto sends Chase out of the ring before Jay counters an ushigaroshi into a Saito suplex, Jay making the tag to Chase who slaps Goto repeatedly and rocks him with an enzuigiri before hitting a knee into the Jewel Heist for a near fall. Yoshi breaks up a near fall before Chase goes for the package piledriver that Goto counters before Goto clotheslines Jay over the top rope and hits Chase with an ushigaroshi. Goto then kicks Chase in the chest before hitting the GTR for the pin and the win.

Winner: Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI defeat Chase Owens and Jay White via pinfall when Hirooki pins Chase with the GTR.

Jushin Thunder Liger & Juice Robinson & Toru Yano vs Los Ingobernables de Japon (Tetsuya Naito, BUSHI & Shingo Takagi)

BUSHI and Liger kick off the match by locking up for a clean break before BUSHI rakes the eyes of Liger and gets hit with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for his troubles. Liger locks in a surfboard stretch that Naito breaks up before LIJ triple team Liger and everyone except the legal men spill to the outside. BUSHI tears at the mask of Liger and tags in Naito who punches Liger and locks in a sleeper before locking in a head scissor and he and BUSHI stomping on Liger. Shingo rocks Liger with a forearm and clotheslines him in the corner before Liger comes back with a Shotei and Juice gets the tag. Juice hits a running clothesline in the corner before Shingo follows him across the ring and hits one of his own before they exchange forearms until Juice drops Shingo with an ax kick.

Shingo and Juice counter each other until Juice hits a full nelson slam for a two count and hits a dazed Shingo with right hands until Shingo hits a snapping jab. They run at each other with lariats until Shingo hits a yoshikami when Juice goes for Pulp Friction. Naito and Yano come in and Yano removes the turnbuckle pad before Naito hits his tripping slingshot dropkick in the corner before Naito grabs the turnbuckle pad, Yano rolling him up for a near fall. BUSHI hits a missile dropkick and he and Shingo double team Yano for a near fall that Liger breaks up, Yano hitting BUSHI with a low blow before rolling him up for the pin and the win.

Winner: Toru Yano, Juice Robinson and Jushin Thunder Liger defeat Los Ingobernables de Japon when Yano pins BUSHI with a low blow and a roll up.

G1 Climax Block A Match

Lance Archer vs Will Ospreay

Will rushes Lance and hits Spanish Fly before hitting a suicide dive and a 450 for a surprising one count before Lance nearly knocks Will out with a forearm. Will sends Lance out onto the apron before hitting a springboard shotgun dropkick and misses a tope before Lance chokeslams him over the railing and through a table. Lance tosses Will back into the ring and drops him with a shoulder block before he plays to the crowd and chops Will in the corner. Lance clotheslines Will for a quick two count and teases old school several times before hitting it and running back elbows in the corner. Will boots Lance in the face and enrages him before Will hits a hand spring wheel kick and a 619 into a springboard forearm.

Will hits an enzuigiri and a roundhouse kick before Lance launches him across the ring with a shoulder tackle before hitting a buckle bomb into a last ride powerbomb. Will rolls out onto the floor to avoid the pin before Lance hits a powerbomb onto the apron, Lance dragging Will to the top of the ramp before Will counters into a code red on the ramp. Back in the ring Will hits a shooting star press for a near fall before Lance counters the OsCutter once before Will hits a second time for another near fall. Lance counters the Storm Breaker before Will counters the Blackout and Lance catches Will up top before hitting a muscle buster for a near fall. Lance hits the Blackout for a near fall before Lance locks in the iron claw, but Will gets to the ropes for the break before Will hits a Spanish fly off of the top for a very close near fall.

Lance counters the Storm Breaker before Will drops him with a series of kicks and Lance catches him on the top turnbuckle when he goes for the Super OsCutter. Lance then hits a Super Blackout before he applies the iron claw and pins Will for the win.

Winner: Lance Archer defeats Will Ospreay via pinfall with the iron claw to secure two points.

G1 Climax Block A Match

EVIL vs Bad Luck Fale

They go out of the ring as soon as the match starts and end up on the ramp where EVIL tries to suplex Fale and gets slammed onto the ramp. EVIL gets back into the ring at the count of eighteen and tries to come back with forearms, but Fale beats him down and stands on him before clotheslining him in the corner. Fale gets a two count and EVIL comes back with chops before Fale misses a splash and EVIL slams him before collapsing to make the mat. EVIL clotheslines Fale over the top rope and onto the floor before EVIL puts a chair around the neck of Fale and sends him into the ring post. EVIL rolls Fale back into the ring and hits a bronco buster for a two count before he rocks EVIL with a lariat before Fale drops him with a shoulder tackle.

Fale hits a running clothesline in the corner into a jumping splash for a near fall before bringing chairs into the ring. The referee fights with Fale over the chair before EVIL hits a lariat for a near fall and Fale hits the Grenade for one of his own. EVIL counters the Bad Luck Fall into another lariat before the referee is sent out of the ring, Fale hitting EVIL with his own move he does with the chair. Fale then hits the Bad Luck Fall for the pin and the win.

Winner: Bad Luck Fale defeats EVIL via pinfall with the Bad Luck Fall to secure two points.

G1 Climax Block A Match

SANADA vs Zack Sabre Jr.

They get things started off by grappling, ZSJ showing off his superior skills and the variety of holds and submissions he knows before SANADA counters a bow and arrow and they hop to their feet. ZSJ backs SANADA into the corner and they counter each other’s pin attempts before SANADA rolls out of the ring and ZSJ holds the ropes open for him to come back in. SANADA gets back into the ring at the count of fourteen and challenging ZSJ to a test of strength before ZSJ counters a top finger lock into a straight jacket. SANADA gets to his feet and reverses into a straight jacket of his own before they counter each other and reapply the hold several times. ZSJ rocks SANADA with an uppercut and controls his wrist before SANADA dropkicks Zack out of the ring and welcomes Zack back into the ring, but he’s weary of returning before he gets back in at the count of nineteen before flipping off the announcer.

ZSJ locks in an armbar when SANADA goes for the Paradise Lock, SANADA getting to the ropes for the break before SANADA rolls out of the ring and holds his arm. SANADA gets in at thirteen and ZSJ immediately kicks his arm before locking in an abdominal stretch, SANADA countering into a high angle dropkick. SANADA locks in the paradise lock in the ropes and dropkicks ZSJ out of the ring before hitting a dive and tossing him back into the ring before hitting a Saito suplex for a two count. ZSJ counters a TKO into an octopus hold before ZSJ transitions into an armbar and SANADA gets to the ropes for the break right before tapping. They exchange uppercuts until ZSJ counters the Skull End and hits a tornado DDT into a dragon sleeper of his own, SANADA getting to his feet and countering before ZSJ locks in a guillotine.

SANADA powers his way out of the guillotine and suplexes ZSJ before hitting a TKO for a near fall. ZSJ counters a moonsault and a back slide into a PK before SANADA counters the Zack Driver into the Skull End before ZSJ counters a moonsault and SANADA locks in the Skull End. They then counter each other until SANADA wins with a pharaoh pin for the win.

Winner: SANADA defeats Zack Sabre Jr. via pinfall to secure two points.

G1 Climax Block A Match

Kota Ibushi vs KENTA

They lock up before exchanging kicks as Katsuyori Shibata looks on from the outside towards the entrance, the two exchanging open hand strikes and kicks akin to an MMA match. They grapple and make their way to their feet for a clean break before KENTA slaps Kota in the face and Kota returns the favor, dropping KENTA to the mat. Kota kicks KENTA in the corner before KENTA traps him in the ropes and kicks him before hitting a diving knee drop, KENTA kicking Kota in the chest repeatedly until he nearly sends him end over end for a quick two count. KENTA locks in a headlock before Kota elbows his way free and KENTA turns him inside out with a kitchen sink. KENTA hits a PK and knee drops to the back of the head before he kicks Kota in the face and plays to the crowd.

Kota urges KENTA to kick him before they exchange forearms until KENTA hits a snapmare into a kick to the spine for a two count. Kota comes back with a dropkick and hits a powerslam into a moonsault for a two count before KENTA hits a dropkick of his own and clotheslines into an overhead suplex. KENTA goes up top and hits a diving clothesline for a two count before Kota counters a tornado DDT and elbows KENTA off of the top and onto the apron. Kota goes for a dead lift German suplex that KENTA counters before hitting a Pele kick and goes for a springboard cross body, but KENTA catches him with a knee in midair. KENTA hangs Kota over the railing and hits a diving stomp off of the apron and hits a missile dropkick once they’re back in the ring.

KENTA hits a delayed running dropkick in the corner into a diving stomp off of the top for a near fall before Kota counters a GTS and clotheslines him when they both go for one. Kota hits a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall and they counter each other’s finishers and collapse to the mat before they make their way to their knees and exchange forearms up to their feet. They exchange kicks until KENTA nearly knocks Kota out with a roundhouse kick for a near fall before kicking him in the side of the neck and head until he collapses. KENTA then kicks Kota again for a near fall before he hits the GTS for the pin and the win.

Winner: KENTA defeats Kota Ibushi via pinfall with the GTS to secure two points.

G1 Climax Block A Match

Kazuchika Okada vs Hiroshi Tanahashi

They lock up for a not so clean break before exchanging forearms until Okada drops Tana with a boot, but he gets right back up. They counter each other and make their way back to their feet before Tana slams Okada and hits a jumping elbow drop before Okada dropkicks him off of the top turnbuckle and down onto the floor. Okada hits a DDT onto the floor and rolls back into the ring before he gets back into the ring and Okada hits a basement dropkick before Red Shoes mocks Okada and does a Rainmaker pose of his own. Okada hits several back elbows in the corner and a surprising dragon screw leg whip into a snapmare and a rear chin lock. Tana hits a dragon screw and a flying forearm before hitting a running dropkick in the corner into a scoop slam and a flipping senton off of the second rope for a two count.

Okada hits a running back elbow into a DDT for a two count before Tana counters the reverse neckbreaker and hits a dragon screw in the ropes. Okada hits a flap jack and Tana dropkicks his knee before Okada hits the reverse neckbreaker for a two count and hits a diving elbow drop before hitting the Rainmaker pose. Tana rolls Okada up when he’s posing for a near fall before Tana hits a reverse dragon screw and locks in a cloverleaf. Okada gets to the bottom rope for the break before Tana hits another inverted dragon screw and a High Fly Flow to the outside. Tana rolls Okada back into the ring and Okada counters a sling blade before Tana hits a twist and shout and Tana a sling blade. Okada hits a dropkick into a tombstone before Tana counters the RAINMAKER into a sling blade.

Tana hits a diving cross body before Okada gets his knees up when Tana goes for a High Fly Flow and Tana counters another tombstone. The two counter each other’s attempts at a tombstone until Okada hits a back slide into a RAINMAKER and maintains wrist control before hitting a second RAINMAKER. Okada lifts Tana who gets a near fall off of a small package and hits a bridging dragon suplex for a near fall of his own. Okada then keeps a hold of Tana’s wrist while he’s being hit before he hits a jumping, spinning tombstone into a third RAINMAKER for the pin and the win.

Winner: Kazuchika Okada defeats Hiroshi Tanahashi via pinfall with the RAINMAKER to secure two points.

-Okada addresses the crowd after the match in English and asks the fans how they enjoyed the show before saying that tonight’s the first time G1 is in America, but it won’t be the last. Okada then says that they’ll be back and that when he comes back to Dallas next he will be both the IWGP Heavyweight champion and the G1 Climax tournament winner before saying that he will return to Dallas to make it rain money in Japanese before he leaves.

-We go backstage to the press area where Okada talks about his victory and the tournament as a whole.
