This marks the first reign as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions for Wato & Taguchi. Taguchi has held the titles on six different occasions with Ricochet (once), Prince Devitt, also known as Finn Balor (four times), and El Samurai (once). This is Wato’s first time holding the titles.
Eagles & Tiger Mask won the titles at NJPW Road To Power Struggle 2021 night three and made one successful title defense.
