New IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Crowned At NJPW Castle Attack
The vacant IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title has found a home.
At NJPW Castle Attack, El Desperado captured the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title when he pinned El Phantasmo with a double pincho loco in a triple threat match that also featured BUSHI.
This marks his first run with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title. On February 25, El Desperado won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles alongside Yoshinobu Kanemaru. BUSHI was originally tabbed to face ELP for the vacant title, but El Desperado inserted himself into the match at the conclusion of the February 25 Road to Castle Attack event.

Hiromu Takahashi was scheduled to defend the title against ELP, but suffered a torn pectoral on February 19 and vacated the title on February 25 at NJPW Road to Castle Attack.
Takahashi is scheduled to be out for an estimated six months.
