New Day Discuss The Awkwardness Of Commercial Breaks Inside The ThunderDome

Ever wonder what happens when a WWE superstar has to stand around during a commercial break?

When fans were allowed in the arena, wrestlers could grab a mic and interact with the crowd or tag teams can banter with their partners. But how about if you’re alone in the ring with no crowd to play off of?

Speaking on New Day: Feel The Power, Xavier Woods and Big E explained the awkwardness of being in the ring alone during a commercial while inside the ThunderDome.

“I have not been in a situation for a very long time where I am out, in the ring, in front of cameras on television in the break without Kofi or E to mess around with. It’s three minutes of just screwing around and doing whatever you want. ‘Yeah, we’re at break.’ ‘….Cool, where are my friends?’ Everything is fine, I’m talking to the camera guy and the announcers, it was fine, it was just very weird not having you guys to immediately play off of,” said Woods.

While Woods typically has Kofi Kingston to mess around with, Kingston is currently sidelined with a jaw injury.

As for Big E, he has been flying solo since October 2020 when New Day was split during the WWE Draft.

“It was an adjustment for sure. We used to go to break and we had so much fun, you had people in the crowd. You go to break and have roughly three minutes. You can interact with people, holler at people, scope some ladies, dap up some kids. That was the most live event interaction. I miss having those three minutes to mess around or run the ropes real fast for no reason. It’s weird. You go to break and it’s just silence,” said Big E.

Fans inside the ThunderDome are usually treated to a commercial the same time fans watching at home are.

Elsewhere during the podcast, Kofi Kingston discussed his recent jaw injury. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
