New Champion Crowned On RAW From New Orleans (Video)
Kevin Owens no longer has to worry about his best friend Chris Jericho being the one without a championship.
Owens helped Jericho defeat Roman Reigns to become the new United States champion in the main event of tonight's episode of Monday Night RAW. Jericho and Owens defeated Reigns in a handicap match to give Jericho the title.
Here's the finish written by Fightful's Alex Pawlowski during the live viewing party.
Reigns hits the driveby on Owens, then a superman punch to Jericho, Owens grabs Roman's leg as he's halfway through the ropes, Roman gets Codebreakered. Then Powerbombed onto the apron.
Roman rolled back into the ring, Jericho hits the Codebreaker.
1-2-3.
WINNER: Chris Jericho
NEW UNITED STATES CHAMPION!
On a night that had The Undertaker announce his participation in the Royal Rumble and Shawn Michaels making his return to RAW, Jericho came out as the biggest winner. In his illustrious career, Jericho has won a large variety of titles, including the Undisputed WWF Championship, the Intercontinental title a record nine times, and numerous tag team championships, but never the United States Championship, until now.
Reigns won the United States Championship from Rusev at last year's Clash of the Champions pay-per-view. But Reigns will have a shot at winning another championship as he will fight Kevin Owens for the Universal Title at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
