Natalya Discusses Why The ‘Make-A-Wish’ Foundation Means So Much To Her
Natalya has a special connection to the 'Make-A-Wish' foundation.
One of the perks of being a WWE-contracted talent are the opportunities that one receives not only inside of the ring but outside of it. The sports-entertainment company has an established partnership with the 'Make-A-Wish' foundation which grants young boys and girls' wishes of meeting some of their favorite WWE superstars. It has been documented that the former 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena has granted more than 580 wishes.
Another WWE superstar who thoroughly enjoys granting wishes is the former SmackDown Live Women's Champion Natalya who uploaded her latest blog post onto the Calgary Sun which detailed her love of the 'Make-A-Wish' project.
"Meeting and spending time with children who are the bravest people I’ve ever met is why I love working with Make-A-Wish and other programs that WWE supports. Make-A-Wish works very closely with WWE to help grant wishes. In fact, at more than 580 wishes, WWE Superstar John Cena has granted more wishes for the organization than any other celebrity in the world It is such a huge honour for me to work with Make-A-Wish. I was part of anevent with them last week in Connecticut where I met so many incredible kids, and was able to put smiles on their faces.
Many of these children have dreams of being WWE Superstars themselves. Take Evan for example, he is 13 years old and has had many battles with his health. Evan said what takes his mind off his health issues is watching WWE with his family. He loves to talk (just like me!) and said he wants to work for WWE as a commentator like Corey Graves. Evan knows the importance of dreaming big no matter what life throws at you.
At last week’s event, we were honored to watch Naomi grant her first wish to a little girl named Arianna. When I met Arianna, she was wearing a glow in the dark dress just like the colours in Naomi’s ring gear. Arianna had no idea that Naomi was going to make a surprise entrance during the Make-A-Wish ceremony. Alexa Bliss and I were sworn to secrecy, and we told her it was too bad Naomi couldn’t be here to see her. Then, out of nowhere, the presenters stopped talking on stage, the lights went out and Naomi’s music started playing. Arianna jumped up in excitement. Out came Naomi dancing to her song and everyone started dancing with her. Arianna started crying tears of joy, and her hero Naomi grabbed her by the hand and brought her on stage to dance together. Naomi gave Arianna the biggest hug. For those precious moments Arianna didn’t have a care in the world other than meeting her idol. It was truly a magical moment!"
