Naomichi Marufuji Says That He Felt Some Jealousy When Hideo Itami Left Japan

It is all going down tomorrow…

It was announced this past June that WWE came to an agreement with Pro Wrestling NOAH to allow NOAH’s former three-time GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion and current 205 Live star Hideo Itami to return to NOAH for one more match against Naomichi Marufuji at Marufuji’s 20th Anniversary show at ‘Sumo Hall’ on September 1st.

Itami and Marufuji are no strangers to one another as the two men were tag team partners for a period of time in NOAH and they also went to war over the GHC Heavyweight Championship at the company’s ‘Autumn Navigation’ event in 2006. To promote the main event of his 20th Anniversary show, Marufuji was interviewed by ‘Boko-Pro’ and while speaking with the news outlet Marufuji was asked about once again squaring off with the man formerly known as “KENTA” and he had the following to say:

(Translation by Twitter user @Hi5ame)

“He and I are on different paths. I did feel some jealousy when he went to America, because I had decided that I had to do it here. I don’t want it to be lost in the meaning of his going to America, I have been thinking about that. Because of the excitement, I want to show content that matches it, and above all the results. He will not give up, and I want to take advantage of my ability to win. I think he is thinking many things, especially about the reaction of the fans when he was displayed on the monitor at Korakuen. I think that was the most and best real. I want him to have an explosion like that at the venue. Everyone had hoped for him, and that was the proof.” Marufuji said.

Hideo Itami’s sights is currently set on his return to NOAH but when he returns to 205 Live he’ll have to come face-to-face with the returning Mustafa Ali who has unfinished business with Itami.
