MVP Says The Hurt Business Is Not An Attempt At Rehashing The Nation Of Domination

MVP doesn’t want people to think that the Hurt Business is just an attempt to do another version of The Nation Of Domination.

The Hurt Business features MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, but the group consisting all black wrestlers got people thinking that it’s some type of modern iteration of The Nation of Domination. Speaking on the “Say Less with Kaz And Lowkey” podcast, MVP spoke about those comparisons and says the purpose of The Hurt Business is for MVP to be able to work with his friends and make some money and isn’t some type of Nation rehash.

“Short answer is no because I’ve been hearing the chatter. I don’t want to be the new anything. The Nation was done. It was awesome in the time that it was done and needed. Stars were made, but I don’t want to rehash something else. I want to bring something new. Me and Bobby are legitimate friends. Shelton is one of my closest friends. I just like making money with my friends… But I don’t want to rehash anything. I do want to present myself and Bobby and Shelton as strong black, male role models, successful. We’re businessmen. We’re not trying to make a statement on race. We’re trying to just make a statement and in our case, what we’re trying to do, it’s not about black and white,” MVP said.

The Hurt Business has been in a feud with United States Champion Apollo Crews for many weeks with Ricochet confronting the group at times. MVP said he wanted to work with the two of them, believing in their potential and knowing he can get good matches out of them and elevate them to another level.

“I see young, talented guys, I asked to work with Apollo. He’s tremendously talented, he just needs a little coaxing, a little help. Being Apollo, we work on things, look over segments. He’s coachable. That’s why he’s being successful. I always wanted to work with Ricochet. Ricochet has been one of my favorite dudes for years. I used to tell him, ‘If you could talk like you could wrestle, you’d be a millionaire,'” MVP said.

The group has now moved towards taking over Raw Underground as MVP is set to face Crews for the United States Championship at SummerSlam later this month. You can check out the full podcast at this link.
