Muhammad Hassan Says Mick Foley Was One Of The Rare People Able To Make His Character Look Like A Hypocrite
Muhammad Hassan recalls making his debut on WWE programming in a promo opposite Mick Foley.
Muhammad Hassan wasn’t on WWE TV for long, but almost everything he did involved working with Hall of Fame-level talent. This was evident by his debut on December 13, 2004, on a WWE Raw episode, where his first in-arena promo battle was against Mick Foley.
Reflecting on that debut in a new YouTube video on Maven’s channel, Hassan credited Foley for being such a professional. He praised him for being one of the few performers who were properly able to make the Muhammed Hassan character look like a hypocrite.
“We’re in Alabama; this is 2004. This is my first ever appearance on TV, my entire family was watching, this was a big moment for me. I spoke with Mick in the back and he’s just such a professional, such a true talent and he was great. We came out, we just got into it man. It wasn’t really scripted but man, I can take that standpoint any day of Muhammed Hassan. I understand what that character felt, I understand the prejudice and the injustice and it was so easy for me to just go,” he said. “The way that Mick Foley handled this promo — like I’m coming out there speaking the truth, sure, but he shot that truth at me so pointedly and appropriately and so brilliantly, it makes me look like the hypocrite and that rarely happened when I did a promo as Muhammad Hassan. Mick Foley, what he did here in this interview was phenomenal. This is one of my more favorite interviews.”
At this link, fans can learn about how Hassan was rumored to be booked to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam 2005.
In other interviews, Hassan has discussed his belief that the character would be a babyface today.
