More On Bill Goldberg’s Free Agency And WWE Departure, Who Is Interested

There’s a huge free agent on the market, although he’s certainly got more years behind him than ahead of him.

Fightful Select has confirmed that Bill Goldberg’s WWE contract expired at the end of 2022, and no deal to renew or extend was reached. Goldberg has been officially a free agent since that point.

The 56-year old Bill Goldberg only wrestled once in 2022, losing the last match on his contract to Roman Reigns. Over the last couple of years, Goldberg put over Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, Reigns and Bobby Lashley, though he got a win back over Lashley. Half of his matches since 2018 were in Saudi Arabia, and all of them were either for Saudi shows or “big 4” WWE PPV events.

Goldberg actually wrestled the last match on the deal at last year’s WWE Elimination Chamber PPV, but there was still a period of ten months on the deal. During his most recent run, Goldberg won the WWE Universal Title twice, losing it both times at WrestleMania.

There were rumors that AEW was interested in Goldberg in 2019, but that was never confirmed.

In regards to Goldberg’s free agency status, it isn’t necessarily new. We’re told be became a free agent on January 1, and that Tony Khan has had to interact with his reps for other deals as well. Goldberg’s last match was February 2022, but there was still time on his deal. – In regards to Goldberg’s free agency status, it isn’t necessarily new.
