Moose Says TNA World Title Was Going To Be Brought Back In King Of The Mountain Match
At IMPACT Rebellion 2020, Moose declared himself at the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, bringing back the title that hadn’t been used since TNA rebranded as IMPACT.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, IMPACT was to set hold TNA: There’s No Place Like Home as part of WrestleMania weekend, which would honor TNA’s history and bring back past stars from the brand.
Speaking on Da Call Up podcast, Moose revealed that the TNA World Heavyweight Title was originally scheduled to return at that event.
“We were supposed to have a show in Tampa [TNA: No Place Like Home] and there was a King of the Mountain match with five or six of us, with me being one of them, and it was going to be for the TNA Heavyweight Title. They were going to bring it back. That show got canceled due to COVID and we had to find a way to still have the belt on the show. Management thought of the idea, ‘Moose, you’re a badass, just grab the title and claim you’re the champion.’ That’s what I did. That run changed my whole career, especially the stuff I did with EC3. That changed me from a Floyd Mayweather-type to a Mike Tyson-type to where I just want to hurt people and beat people up,” he said.
IMPACT announced the King of the Mountain match for TNA: There’s No Place Like Home, but never gave the participants in the bout.
The TNA World Heavyweight Title and IMPACT World Title were unified at IMPACT Sacrifice with Rich Swann defeating Moose to capture both titles. Swann will now defend the unified titles against Kenny Omega at IMPACT Rebellion.
