Moose Doesn’t Think He Was Ready To Become World Champion At Last Year’s Slammiversary PPV

Moose speaks about his history at Slammiversary.

IMPACT Wrestling’s Slammiversary pay-per-view is this Sunday and the match card has been finalized with one episode of IMPACT TV left to go until the pay-per-view. The match card will feature multiple championship matches, a First Blood match, Tessa Blanchard versus Sami Callihan, and the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Rob Van Dam taking on Moose. Moose is eager to share the ring with Rob Van Dam as he stated during an interview with Sports Illustrated

Moose said that RVD was a wrestler who he was entertained by since RVD’s days in ECW and now it comes full circle as Moose gets to wrestle him at Slammiversary.

“I’ve been a big fan of RVD’s since his ECW days,” said Moose. “He was a big reason why I wanted to become a wrestler. Now I get to step in the ring with him.”

It was at last year’s Slammiversary pay-per-view that Moose headlined the show in a World Title match against Austin Aries. Moose did not come out of the match as champion and shared that he feels he was not ready to carry the company as its top champion. Moose added that he has displayed growth over the past year and if all goes well against RVD, he’ll be ready for the World Title.

“Since I’ve been with IMPACT, its been my goal to be world champion,” said Moose. “I had one opportunity against Austin Aries at last year’s Slammiversary. I’ll be honest, I don’t think I was ready to carry the company on my shoulder. I’ve made a lot of growth over the past year, and I’m definitely ready to be the world champion and carry the company. If Sunday goes as planned, then I’m ready to go after the world title.”
