MLW Signs Danny Limelight, Slice Boogie And Julius Smokes To Reform LAX, Details On How It Happened
LAX is back.
The stable reformed at MLW’s Battle Riot tapings on July 10, with new but familiar faces. Fightful Select was quickly able to learn more.
AEW veteran Danny Limelight appeared on MLW wrestling’s Battle Riot tapings, and we can confirm he’s signed a multi-year deal with MLW. Limelight is finished with All Elite Wrestling for the time being, and AEW sources confirmed that he was on a tiered contract, and that the door is open for a return down the line. Limelight is permitted to appear on NJPW and select other appearances as a part of the deal, we’re told. Those in All Elite Wrestling that we spoke to put over Danny Limelight’s work ethic in the ring.
Limelight debuted in MLW as LAX alongside Julius Smokes and NWA veteran Slice Boogie. We’re told both Smokes and Slice Boogie have also signed with Major League Wrestling, and are managed by Konnan in the company.
For those wondering how MLW is able to use the LAX name, we’re told that Konnan went to IMPACT directly out of respect for them to let them know that he’d be using a new version of LAX in MLW. According to MLW sources, IMPACT seemed okay with it and the IMPACT office was easy to work with in that regard. We haven’t spoken to IMPACT about this directly, but IMPACT sources over the past couple of weeks have put over how well most companies are working together right now. There are possibilities more names could be added to LAX in the future, as well.
A former iteration of LAX, Santana and Ortiz are currently in AEW as Proud & Powerful, while Homicide is a current ROH World Tag Team Champion. Hernandez had recently worked for IMPACT Wrestling between March 2020 and May 2021, but has been appearing on SWE Fury in recent weeks.
