MJF Proves To Be The Strongest Pillar, Retains AEW World Title At AEW Double Or Nothing

MJF is the last pillar remaining.

MJF retained the AEW World Title at AEW Double or Nothing, defeating Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin, and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry in the Four Pillars four-way.

The finish saw Allin go for the coffin drop on Perry with MJF putting the belt on Perry’s chest. Allin’s back went crashing into the belt. MJF picked up Allin and hit a headlock takeover to score the pinfall.

During the bout, all men paid tribute to their mentors in some way with MJF hitting the Cross Rhodes in tribute to Cody Rhodes, Perry hitting Killswitch in tribute to Christian Cage, Guevara hitting the Codebreaker in tribute to Christian Cage, and Allin hitting the Scorpion Deathdrop in tribute to Sting. Allin also used the Scorpion Deathlock and Guevara used the Walls of Jericho.

In the middle of the bout, MJF asked Guevara to lay down for him, telling him to think of his new baby as Tay Melo announced her pregnancy before the match. Sammy initially agreed, but then rolled up MJF for two.

At one point, Allin seemingly had the match won after hitting a Coffin Drop, followed by a headlock takeover, on MJF, but Perry broke up the fall. Shortly after, Perry prevented MJF from using the AEW World Title as a weapon, and then decided not to use it himself on Allin.

MJF has now made three successful title defenses of the AEW World Title. He won the belt from Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear 2022.

The four men have been referred to as “The Pillars” since the early days of AEW. The bout was originally scheduled to be MJF vs. Sammy Guevara after Guevara won a mini-tournament, defeating Perry and Allin with help from MJF. Due to MJF’s interference, a tag team bout was set up with Perry & Allin defeated Guevara & MJF to make it a four-way match.
