MJF Leaves Early, Danhausen Reacts To Jack Perry Heel Turn | AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door Fight Size

Here is your post-AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 fight size update.

– A man of his word, Maxwell Jacob Friedman bailed on the event after his opening match, where he successfully defended the AEW World Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi.

– After losing his opportunity to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry turned heel on HOOK. This led to a very heated Twitter interaction with Danhausen: 

– CM Punk and Athena advanced in their respective Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments. 

– In a four-way championship battle, Orange Cassidy defended his AEW International Championship against Daniel Garcia, Katsuyori Shibata, and Zack Sabre Jr. Cassidy pinned Daniel Garcia to retain the gold.

– Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay had an absolute classic match for the IWGP United States Championship. In the end, Ospreay regained his championship and earned his victory back against Kenny. 

– Tomohiro Ishii picked up a victory for himself, The Elite, and Eddie Kingston in an absolutely wild 10-Man Tag against Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, Shota Umino, and Konosuke Takeshita. After the match, Eddie Kingston was still reluctant to get close to Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson, and Adam Page. 

– Toni Storm successfully retained her AEW Women’s World Championship over Willow Nightingale and Saraya’s back in the fold, too. 

– Sting, Darby Allin, and Tetsuya Naito defeated Le Suzuki Gods (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, and Minoru Suzuki) in a six-man tag team match. Naito eventually won after pinning Suzuki with a double-team help from Sting.

– AEW has officially announced that AEW All Out will be presented at the United Center on September 3. The AEW All Out tradition will continue in Illinois in 2023, but this location will be upgraded. In addition, AEW will spend the remainder of the week in Illinois presenting events. 

– Bryan Danielson entered for his main event match against Kazuchika Okada to Europe’s Final Countdown and would actually tap out the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion in the main event. 

– On Sunday night, AEW President Tony Khan went to Twitter to report that the event had grossed $1.2 million, making it AEW’s highest gate ever.
