The Miz: “When I First Got To WWE, People Thought I Was Going To Be Fired Within Three Months”
The Miz is a true come-up story.
Transitioning from the world of reality television to the land of sports-entertainment was not one that was easy on the self-proclaimed “A-Lister” The Miz. Miz got his start with WWE by participating on a season of ‘Tough Enough’ and although he did not win, he earned himself a WWE developmental contract. Fourteen years later and The Miz has won the WWE Championship, held the Intercontinental Championship eight times, won the Money In The Bank contract and is a Grand Slam Champion in the company.
The Miz recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to further promote the USA Network series ‘Miz & Mrs.’ which aired its second episode this past Tuesday. During the interview The Miz reflected on his journey thus far noting that he has traveled the rocky road to success.
“When I first got to WWE, people thought I was going to be fired within three months,” said The Miz. “No one liked me, no one wanted me there, whether it was the fans or the people backstage. I had to fight and fight and fight to earn my spot. Through hard work and dedication, I proved everyone wrong, and I’m the bad guy in WWE, which I find hilarious.”
One man who The Miz has been trying to prove wrong is former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. The two men have an on-going feud that has been boiling for eight years and that feud continued this past Tuesday on SmackDown Live.
