Místico Defeats Chris Jericho, Orange Cassidy Makes The Save At CMLL 91st Anniversary

The Mouseheart outlasts The Lionheart.

The Mouseheart outlasts The Lionheart.

On Friday, September 13, 2024, CMLL hosted a special edition of “Viernes Espectacular” celebrating the promotion’s 91st Anniversary airing live on their YouTube (Tier “Fan Leyenda”) from the mythical Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico. The show was headlined by a marquee match-up, as “Lionheart” Chris Jericho made his CMLL return in nearly 30 years against Místico in the main event of the show.

After a heated match between the two legendary wrestlers to a ruckus crowd, the finish came in the third fall of the match with the scoreboard tied 1-1. Místico got Jericho in the center of the ring with Tijeras before quickly transitioning into La Mística for the second fall and picking up the win. This was their first-ever match, with Místico picking up the big win in the main event of CMLL’s grandest show. Big Bill attacked The Prince of Silver & Gold after the match, but Orange Cassidy made the save.

The events of tonight’s show are not the only thing Jericho has to worry about, as he had his Blue Bentley swatted with $7,000 worth of coins by The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe & Kyle O’Reilly) on the 9/11 edition of AEW Dynamite and is set to face “Freshly Squeezed” on the 9/18 edition of AEW Dynamite. Místico, on the other hand, is set to face TMDK’s Bad Dude Tito in the Semifinals of MLW’s Opera Cup Tournament on 9/14 in Atlanta, Georgia.
