Mikey Rukus Says He Was Only Informed Of Samoa Joe’s AEW Debut The Night Before It Happened
Mikey Rukus had short notice when creating Samoa Joe’s AEW theme song.
Samoa Joe made his debut for AEW/ROH at Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor 2022. He would close the show by coming out to confront Jay Lethal, his former protege, who had just attacked Jonathan Gresham.
Reflecting on his debut, Mikey Rukus, the head music producer for AEW, revealed he was only informed the night before the show that Samoa Joe was coming in. However, he called the experience of being able to switch gears on short notice an exhilarating one.
I got the call the night before this show.
“Joe is coming”
Me: “You gaddayum right he’s coming Tony Khan. I got you”
I can’t tell you how exhilarating it is to switch gears at a moments notice and kick it into overdrive. Nothing like it in the world. —- https://t.co/kTAK66VQVg
