Mike Bennett Reveals How He Got Involved In TalkNShopAMania

There are very few things Mike Bennett wouldn’t do for The Good Brothers.

On April 15, 2020, Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson, Mike Bennett, and a handful of other Superstars were released by WWE due to “budget constraints” brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Less than four months later, in August, along with Rocky Romero, Gallows and Anderson held and promoted an event called Talk ‘N Shop A Mania, a self-aware, comedic wrestling show featuring an eclectic mix of matches and names.

One of the names on the card was Mike Bennett, who competed in the 15-Man Social Distancing Battle Royal. Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, the now-Ring of Honor Superstar jested about how he got roped into doing the show, saying, “How do you think?”

Showering the IMPACT Wrestling tag team with praise, Gallows and Anderson didn’t have to pry any teeth to get Bennett to show up. He said the following:

“All it takes is one call from Good Brother and I’m just like, ‘Yeah. Whatever you want me to do because I adore the two of you.’ So, if it means I gotta drive in the backwoods of Georgia to come to your house and sell pills and have my wife dance in a bikini—I’m all on board. You know what, man? Again, I adore those two. I will do anything for them. Probably half the wrestling world would do anything for them. So, that’s how it came about. Karl called me. ‘What are we doing? Cool. I’ll be there.’”

Chuckling about the fact that this was his first appearance since leaving WWE, Bennett’s time in the match came about as quickly as it lasted. Here is what happened:

“I threw myself out of the battle royal,” Bennett said. “That’s the first time. That came about because I was watching it and all of a sudden Karl goes, ‘You wanna jump in?’ I was like, ‘Yeah,’ and I just ran out and threw myself out.”

Unable to do anything but smile about the absurdity of the event, Bennett laughingly said, “It was so bad.”

As for what was going through his mind while watching it all unfold, he had this to say:

“You know what was going through my head, was ‘Only these two could get away with it.’ That’s what I was saying to myself. ‘These two are the only two who could pull that off.’ Everyone else would have been cancelled.”

Bennett continues to team with his longtime partner Matt Taven as the OGK. He recently spoke about his decision to resign with Ring of Honor. You can find his comments here.
