FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mick Foley and Conrad Thompson Team Up for “Foley Is Pod”
Wrestling Legend and New York Times Best Selling Author Set To Join Podcast Heat
Starting Friday, June 3rd, ‘The Hardcore Legend’ Mick Foley and ‘The Podfather’ Conrad Thompson are teaming up for a brand new podcast, “Foley Is Pod,” distributed by Podcast Heat and available for download on Apple, Spotify, and all major podcast outlets as well as on YouTube. Foley, whose physical and extreme style of professional wrestling made him a can’t-miss attraction in Japan, a cult legend in WCW and ECW, and one of the cornerstones of the WWE’s popularity boom in the late 90’s, will take listeners on a weekly career ride-along, guided by Thompson.
“I am very excited to announce the premiere of Foley is Pod,” said Foley. “Conrad Thompson and I have been working hard to make sure this is a podcast you will enjoy, and make part of your weekly schedule.”
“People always ask me who is one person you’d like to have a podcast with, and Mick Foley’s name would immediately pop out of my mouth. Now, to actually have the privilege to do ‘Foley is Pod,’ is a real dream come true,” added Thompson. “In an industry built on characters, Mick might be one of the most dynamic characters that has ever laced up the boots. And that doesn’t take into account the actual human Mick Foley, who is a loving husband, father, best-selling author, stand-up comedian and so much more. This podcast is going to be the perfect platform for listeners to get a true sense of who Mick Foley is.”
In the ring, Foley was a 3-time WWE Champion and won the 1995 ‘King of the Deathmatch’ tournament in Yokohama, Japan. While working against superstars like The Rock, Triple H and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Mick helped sell out arenas all over the world. But it was Foley’s feud with The Undertaker that cemented his legendary status, particularly after their brutal 1998 ‘Hell in a Cell’ match that saw Foley thrown off of and through the 16 foot cage. Despite numerous sustained injuries, Foley finished the match and his admiration from wrestling fans grew to meteoric heights.
When Foley’s career was winding down, he wrote his own career-memoir, “Have a Nice Day” without the assistance of a ghost-writer. The book highlighted Foley’s amazing journey through wrestling, and also introduced audiences who were unfamiliar with him, to his sense of humor, wisdom and overall kindness that many didn’t associate with such a terrifying and rugged professional wrestler. “Have a Nice Day” became a New York Times best-seller in October, 1999. In 2001, Foley’s follow-up book, “Foley is Good” also hit number one on The Times list as well. Foley has published a total of 10 books; four memoirs, four children’s books and two novels.
