Mick Foley Cancels Todd Pettengill, Takes His Place In New Song Declaring Himself Mr. In Your House
Mick Foley always came through most when it mattered least.
Mick Foley is a humble, frugal, and kind man. However, when it’s time for him to speak his truth, Mick doesn’t just speak it, he sings it. For the past several months on his podcast, Foley is Pod, Mick has called himself “Mr. In Your House,” joking that no one came through on WWE’s secondary pay-per-views quite as he did. The inside joke lent itself to a t-shirt and Mick has even joked that he’d be okay with the moniker being on his headstone with the words, “No one came through more when it mattered least” also on his epitaph.
Now, Mick Foley has officially embraced the moniker in the form of a song.
On the latest Foley is Pod, Mick premiered a new music video in which all three of his in-ring personas, Mankind, Dude Love, and Cactus Jack, sing about the triumphs Mick accomplished on WWE’s longstanding secondary pay-per-view event of the 1990s. Throughout the song, Mick jokes about himself “failing” at WrestleMania, while the Dude Love singers, a group of backup vocalists, affirm his status as Mr. In Your House.
As for how Mick actually fared at In Your House events, there may be a few names other than Mankind more closely associated with WWE In Your House.
Based on the WWE Network listings of the In Your House events lasting from May 1995 until December 1997, Shawn Michaels has the most In Your House main events with eight headlining appearances, Diesel and Bret Hart are tied for second place with six main event appearances, and The Undertaker comes in third with five main events.
Meanwhile, Mick Foley only headlined two In Your House events. In back-to-back events in 1996, Mick Foley headlined in September at Mind Games against Shawn Michaels, and in October, he would lose to The Undertaker in the first ever Buried Alive Match.
Even Todd Pettengill, whose face appears in the video with the word “canceled” over it, consistently appeared at almost every In Your House event in the aforementioned timeframe. The Toddster was even invited back when NXT revived In Your House in 2020.
All that aside, perception is reality and Mick Foley is embracing the notion that he is the king of In Your House events. After all, no one came through more when it mattered less.
Elsewhere on this week’s podcast, Mick dubbed himself “The Bret Hart of transitional champions.” Learn more here.
