Michael Cole: WWE Has Been A Great Change Of Scenery The Past Couple Of Months
The WWE Universe changed in July when Vince McMahon retired as WWE CEO amid allegation of sexual misconduct and hush money.
Triple H assumed creative duties and made a number of on-screen changes. One big change that fans have noticed is Michael Cole having more freedom on commentary as he now casually mentions other promotions, history, accomplishments that took place outside of WWE, and more.
Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, McAfee was asked how things have been going in the world of WWE.
“Everything has been great. It’s been a great change of scenery the past couple of months. Things are going wonderfully. Ratings have been good, stories have been great, it’s a different world,” he said “I worked under Vince for 25 years and I knew nothing else. He’s a second dad in many ways, I grew up in the company. It was a shock when it first happened and we’ve all settled in and realized the show must go on. The show is going on and we’re doing well.”
McAfee stepped away from his role as WWE SmackDown announcer in September to take a weekly gig with ESPN College Gameday.
Wade Barrett replaced McAfee alongside Cole on WWE SmackDown commentary.
