Mia Yim: “I Told Myself That If I Don’t Make It In WWE By 2019, I’ll Wrap Up My Wrestling Career”

Mia Yim kept that goal close.

It was at this past summer’s Mae Young Classic tapings at Full Sail University that former SHINE Champion Mia Yim entered the tournament for the second year in a row. This year Yim made it to the quarterfinals until she was bested by eventual winner of the tournament and current wXw Women’s Champion Toni Storm. Immediately after their match, the Full Sail crowd began to yell, “Please sign Mia” so that those in the back could hear it and the fans’ voices were heard as it was announced one month after the tapings that Yim signed an exclusive deal with WWE.

WWE cameras caught the moment that NXT founder and senior producer Triple H gave Mia the news that she was being offered a contract and here’s how that interaction went:

“The Blasian Baddie” recently shared on Twitter that she had a set goal and that was to reach WWE by age 30 and she turns 30 next year. If Yim did not achieve that goal, she would’ve ended her wrestling career.

Next week’s episode of NXT TV will feature a Fatal 4-Way match to determine who goes on to TakeOver: Phoenix on January 26th to challenge Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship and Yim is a part of that Fatal 4-Way along with Io Shirai, Lacey Evans and Bianca Belair.
