Matt Taven says The OGK wants to won the NWA World Tag Team Championship and compete in the World Tag League.

Taven and Bennett continue to rack up accolades. They previously won the tag titles in ROH and NJPW, and they added more gold to their resumes when they won the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship earlier in September.

In an interview with WrestleZone, Taven was asked to describe what’s next for The OGK.

“I mean we have said from the beginning that our [goal] as The OGK was the IMPACT Tag Team Titles. But it’s not like you just win the championship and you ride off into the sunset, and that’s how the story ends. I mean if we turned around and lost them tomorrow, we would not look like the greatest champions in history. So it’s about the legacy that you leave after winning the title. [It’s] almost more important than winning them in the first place. People are gonna look back and say, ‘Oh, their reign was this, their reign was that.’ So we plan on holding these titles for a long, long time, definitely til the end of the year. So our plan is to represent IMPACT Wrestling as the top team and holding that for the foreseeable future,” Taven said.

Taven also expressed his hope that, at the end of Bound for Glory, Honor No More will stand tall, holding the majority of the company’s titles.

“At the same time, we’ve got some big events coming up, and we’ve got some big opportunities. The Honor No More group as a whole is still looking to accomplish so much more in IMPACT Wrestling. I truly believe Kenny King is the rightful X-Division Champion right now, and we’re looking at our good friend Eddie Edwards coming back up north for Bound For Glory and getting a shot at the IMPACT Championship, and there’s no better ending to IMPACT’s biggest show of the year than all of us standing in the ring at the end of the night, Honor No More, holding up all the IMPACT titles, and that’s what I have in mind, and that’s the vision I have and I know that all the group has as well,” he said.

The former ROH World Champion shifted his focus back to The OGK and made it clear that they still have goals, despite their recent title win. He named becoming the NWA World Tag Team Championship and competing in NJPW’s World Tag League as two items on their agenda.

“But for us as a team, Mike and I, we still have something to prove. We still always have a huge chip on our shoulder. We’ve been working with the NWA, where we have our sights set on their world tag team titles, and we wanna go back to New Japan. The World Tag League is something that we had a lot of success in before, it led us to the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Titles in the past, and we wanna get back to that point. So we would love to get in the World Tag League as well this year. So we definitely have a lot of things left on the agenda of The OGK. We’re not gonna sit back and rest on our laurels just because we won the tag team titles. It’s like the work has just begun. It’s one of those things where when you finally reach the goal that you had in mind, well now you have a whole new one set in front of you. So that’s our mindset and that’s what we’re pushing for,” Taven said.

In the same interview, Taven advocated for Shane Taylor and stated that he hopes to see IMPACT Wrestling sign the former ROH star.

Taven and Bennett will defend the titles against Josh Alexander and Rich Swann on the September 15 episode of IMPACT Wrestling. More information is available here.
