Matt Taven Feels That He Could’ve Wrestled Jay Lethal For 30 More Minutes At ROH 17th Anniversary
Matt Taven pulls back the curtain just a bit and shares that he thinks very highly of Jay Lethal.
This weekend, Matt Taven will be a part of the ROH World Championship Ladder match at Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Supercard show that will be held inside of the infamous Madison Square Garden. Taven will share the ring with Marty Scurll and the current champion Jay Lethal and all three men have stated on various occasions that having the chance to wrestle at MSG outside of WWE walls was something that they never thought would happen.
Marty Scurll earned his way into this forthcoming title match by winning the 2018 Survival Of The Fittest tournament in November. Matt Taven had a one-on-one shot at Jay Lethal’s title at ROH’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view where the two went to a 60-minute time limit draw that resulted in Taven having a legitimate claim to being inserted into the G1 Supercard ROH World Title match. Taven and Lethal have made the rounds on the media circuit to promote the show and Taven recently joined the ‘Jobbing Out’ podcast and stated that in the moment, he felt like he could’ve went another 30 minutes with Lethal at 17th Anniversary.
“This is what you were built for. This is what you wanted,” Taven recalled thinking before the match. “This is what you’ve been working toward. Now it’s time to go out there and get it. I was so full of adrenaline that I could have gone another half hour it felt like. That crowd was amazing,” Taven said. “Jay Lethal is an unbelievable competitor. I know what it means for me personally. There are a lot of melvins out there that don’t believe in me. I couldn’t love that fact any more because then I get a chance to go out there and go 60 minutes with another one of the best wrestlers in the world and show them how stupid they sound.”
Jobbing Out podcast co-host Aaron Oster published an article onto the Baltimore Sun about the podcast with Taven and to check that article out, click here.
