Matt Hardy Says A Feud With Bray Wyatt Would Be “Amazing”

Matt Hardy says he and his brother needed to come in as a tag-team, but he has a few ideas for future singles opponents.

After returning to WWE at Wrestlemania 33,  Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy have been focusing on tag-team wrestling, even holding the Raw Tag-Team Championship. In an interview with SportBible.com, Matt Hardy explained why it was important for them to come in as a tag-team.

"Speaking from my perspective, I think right now our goal, especially starting, coming back, being reintroduced to the WWE universe after being away for a substantial amount of time, really was to be a tag team – we became famous for being a tag team. I think down the road there will be a potential for both of us doing our own things; we're both strong singles personalities in many ways, and I think as performers we've grown as we've got older; we've got smarter," said Matt Hardy.

The team of Matt and Jeff Hardy are seven-time tag team world champions, but both brothers also had singles feuds in their first stint in WWE. Matt Hardy said if he and his brother move to singles competition, there is a lot of opportunities for first time matchups.

"Just for starters, if we get to where we need to be, I think 'Broken' Matt Hardy against Bray Wyatt would be an amazing deal, and you look at (Jeff Hardy) – him vs Seth Rollins, him vs Finn Balor, either one of us vs Roman Reigns – there's a lot of cool, interesting combinations of guys who became stars in the last five or six years that we've never worked against, it's totally like a fresh slate. So there's a lot of potential forces as singles competitors also," said Matt Hardy.

The Hardy brothers defend their Raw Tag-Team Championship at WWE Extreme Rules against Cesaro and Sheamus, who the Hardys praised in the interview for helping revitalize the tag-team division. In the rest of the interview, Matt and Jeff Hardy discussed receiving "DELETE" chants at Wrestlemania, Jeff Hardy's music, and some favorite moments from the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs matches in their youth.
