Matt Hardy shares his thoughts on Roman Reigns getting pinned for the first time in over three years.
At WWE Money in the Bank, The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) scored a major victory in the main event, as they defeated Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. Jey pinned Reigns, and the defeat marked the first time Reigns had been pinned since WWE TLC 2019.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the veteran was asked to share his thoughts on Reigns’ loss.
“First and foremost, I wanna say that I love how big of a story this is because Roman hasn’t been pinned in so long, so obviously the first person that did it was gonna be a big deal, and this is a huge deal for Jey Uso. So I’m very curious where they go from here, in this program, in the whole Bloodline story because it’s been great. I’ve said this before, it’s one of the best stories ever in wrestling. So I’m excited to see what’s next between Jey Uso and Roman Reigns,” Hardy said.
When asked whether Reigns being pinned before his rumored rematch against Cody Rhodes at WWE WrestleMania 40 hurts the luster of the bout, Hardy noted that there were two ways to look at it. He described how while Reigns has been pinned, he has not lost the title. Hardy stated that the story is currently working on two levels, given Reigns’ feud with both The Usos and Rhodes.
“I don’t know. You can kind of look at it on different levels. One, Roman has been pinned. But there’s also another level of Roman hasn’t lost the title, so you have to keep that in mind. So we’re almost working on two different levels, two different layers here with the Jey Uso story and the Cody Rhodes story,” Hardy said.
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn recently noted that it would make sense for Jey Uso or Jimmy Uso to dethrone Reigns. Click here to see what they had to say.
