Matt Hardy Reflects On The Hardy Boyz Wrestling Private Party At House Of Glory

Matt Hardy says he was always impressed by Private Party’s ability to embrace the character side of professional wrestling.

Currently, Matt Hardy leads Private Party as the minority owner of the AHFO. However, early on in their careers, Matt Hardy, along with his brother Jeff Hardy, wrestled Private Party at House Of Glory and Matt Hardy says but he was immediately impressed with the young duo’s ability to be more than just highspot wrestlers.

Speaking about the match they all had together during a recent episode of Matt Hardy’s podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy recalled a dance-off that they had in the middle of a match which helped him see the potential of the team.

“I do remember whenever we worked [Private Party] at House of Glory. Obviously, their gimmick, Private Party, and they were doing the dancing thing and we had a dance-off. I was doing Broken Matt, which was definitely a different weird character, and Jeff is like a break-it-down dancer anyway. Jeff’s got that blood. I remember we were talking about it and these guys all did it. Jeff did a deal, he broke it down dance, and I ended up grabbing the referee and dancing with him,” said Matt. “I remember thinking of you guys then as like, ‘Well, that’s cool. They’re actually doing these dance contests or trying to be more than just guys who get in the ring and do high spots.’ So I thought that was cool initially right from when I first met you guys how you guys were working on character stuff at the time and I think the character growth you guys have done, you guys have grown so much,” Matt said.

Matt Hardy also complimented Isiah Kassidy for trolling Sammy Guevara ahead of a TNT Championship match by using a picture of Sammy’s girlfriend, Tay Conti. Kassidy, talking about how much fun character work can be for him like a knowledge that he is just a troll and it was easy for him to get under Sammy’s skin that way.

“I’m a big troll. I just thought it was funny as hell. I was like I’m going to get the craziest picture of Tay Conti it got people talking and when you get people talking you’ve already exceeded the job. So I just went overboard,” said Isiah.

Marq Quen also said that it was the match with The Hardy Boyz that changed them even more and helped them try to find who they truly would become as wrestlers.

Now, both men are working closely with Matt Hardy. Currently, Jeff Hardy is not in AEW but that could change in the near future, as Jeff has said that he has a goal of going to AEW. Learn more here.
