Matt and his brother Jeff Hardy reunited when the latter landed in AEW in March 2022. They had a brief run as a tag team before Jeff was suspended following his DUI arrest in June 2022. Jeff returned to AEW and reunited with Matt again on the April 12 episode of AEW Dynamite. He aligned with Matt in his feud against The Firm, and the duo, along with Isiah Kassidy and HOOK, defeated Ethan Page, Big Bill, Lee Moriarty, and Stokely Hathaway in The Firm Deletion match on the May 5 episode of AEW Rampage. The Hardys and Kassidy are set to face Page and The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn) in Jeff’s first proper match since his return/
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the AEW star was asked to share his thoughts on reuniting with Jeff Hardy and getting to team up with him again.
“It’s gonna be exciting. It’s really cool, too. We’re kicking off the night, so we’re gonna be the opening match on the Buy-In show. But it’s cool. We found a replacement because Isiah was injured, so we have someone who is going to replace him. It might be someone that we have teamed with before in the past. You’ll enjoy it. I think it was a real good segment that is going to air on Rampage. Sunday, we’re looking to rock and roll, and we’re going to kick the asses of the Ass Boys and Ethan Page, and then I’ll actually own Ethan Page’s contract, and then the entertainment shall begin,” Hardy said.
Matt was also asked to describe how Jeff was feeling ahead of his first match back. Matt stated that his brother is feeling good, and he was happy that he got to dip his toe back in the water with The Firm Deletion. He then stated that it would be “go-time” at AEW Double or Nothing.
“He’s good. I think he feels good. He was very happy that, his first match back, he kind of stuck his toe in the water a little bit, kind of acclimated a little bit, doing the Firm Deletion. That was not as grueling as a 20-minute match in the ring. But it is go-time on Sunday, and he’s looking forward to it,” Matt said.
Hardy previously shared his thoughts on the addition of AEW Collision to AEW’s content lineup. Check out his comments here.
