Matt Hardy Is Interested In Seeing How NXT Moving To CW Network Will Affect Wrestling TV Landscape
Matt Hardy comments on NXT moving to CW.
Be it the USA Network, CW, UPN, Spike TV, POP, TBS, TNT, AXS, FITE, or YouTube, Matt Hardy has wrestled on a variety of platforms that reach audiences across the globe. Now, Hardy is weighing in on the recent news that NXT will be moving over to the CW Network in October 2024.
Hardy, on the most recent episode of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, says he’s interested to see how this deal will affect the wrestling landscape on television as a whole, remarking that TV rights are a massive revenue source for wrestling companies and noting that both WWE and AEW want to get the best deals they can when the time comes.
“I know it had been floated out there that [CW] was a possible Landing point for the NWA. There had been several people that had told me the last two or three weeks who were in the wrestling business, ‘Oh, yeah, NWA, they have some sort of deal worked out and they’re going to end up on the CW.’ They didn’t know when, they didn’t know what kind of time slot, or whatever, but for NXT to kind of swoop in and have the CW deal is very interesting,” Matt said. “It’s really going to be interesting just to see how the landscape changes from a television perspective because those television rights are the biggest monies that any company make. I know WWE, they’re going to go all out to make all the money they can and I know AEW is looking to get a raise whenever they renew their television rights wherever they end up at. So yeah, it’s going to be really interesting to see how that affects the entire professional wrestling television landscape.”
As far as the NWA’s rumored deal with the CW is concerned, Billy Corgan insists that the NWA still has two TV deals with a top 20 Network. Read more here.
