Matt Hardy shares his thoughts on Eddie Kingston’s match at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.
Matt Hardy explains why Eddie Kingston reminds him of Mick Foley.
At AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, Eddie Kingston will challenge ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli for the gold in a match where Kingston’s NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship will also be on the line. Many fans are hoping to see Kingston, a New York native, score the win in Queens.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the AEW star shared his thoughts ahead of the match and noted that it’s a huge deal for Kingston. He described how Kingston reminds him of a Mick Foley type persona. Hardy also expressed his belief that Kingston will achieve plenty of his goals moving forward.
“It’s huge for Eddie Kingston. It’s truly in his backyard. He very much reminds me of a Mick Foley type persona. He’s this guy that doesn’t have the typical look of a pro wrestler and doesn’t act or perform like a typical pro wrestler. He’s really rough around the edges, but there’s just a charisma about him in his personality and the way he presents himself that just draws people to him. Eddie Kingston is one of the guys who defied the odds, much like Mick Foley defied the odds. I think you’ve got a lot of goals Eddie Kingston wants to achieve that you’re going to see him achieve in the future,” Hardy said.
