Matt Hardy Comments On Undertaker Going Into The Hall Of Fame, Learning From Every Match They Had
Matt Hardy gives The Undertaker his flowers following the news of his Hall of Fame induction.
Within the world of WWE, there is perhaps no greater Superstar than The Undertaker. Having competed under the WWE banner for 30 years, The Undertaker has helped many superstars find themselves and elevate themselves to the next level.
The Undertaker has had many run-ins with Matt and Jeff Hardy and even though he is more associated with Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy has also been fortunate enough to learn from The Phenom of WWE.
Speaking on his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy congratulated The Undertaker for his Hall of Fame career following the news that WWE will be inducting him this year in Dallas, Texas.
“Thinking of the last 30 years. I mean, when you think of WWE, The Undertaker and WWE are synonymous. No one deserves the Hall of Fame bid more than The Undertaker, obviously. So this is like a big deal. I really feel like ‘Taker wanted to, and I get it and I’m passionate because I feel the same, I want to get all I can out of my body. I love pro wrestling, it’s my passion, I enjoy it and as long as I can do it, I would like to do it. ‘Taker was of that same mentality and he was such a company guy through and through. The amount of times that he worked hurt or the amount of times he stepped up and did amazing stuff as The Undertaker, whether it was from an angle perspective or from a match perspective, is just uncountable in WWE. He really is like, the heart and soul of WWE in many ways. So it’s great to see him going in,” Matt said.
“I have learned so much from Undertaker, the times I have to work with him. There were a couple of different occasions that I actually had, like, more extended programs with him, myself and my brother, we did as The Hardy Boyz over the hardcore title for a little bit. Then I actually had a really decent angle, I was like a sub-story with him and Brock whenever I was doing Matt Hardy “Version One”, he and I wrestled many, many times during that period, and it was such a great learning experience every single time.”
Speaking of Brock Lesnar, Brock Lesnar was, of course, the man that ended Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania. Speaking about that iconic moment, Matt Hardy says that he actually sees no issue with Brock Lesnar being the one to beat the streak.
“Looking back considering it was Brock and considering what Brock has done since then, it doesn’t bother me at all,” Matt Hardy said. “I mean, you could have had the streak go on forever. But at the end of the day, if he just retires with the streak then nobody gets anything out of it. At least Brock got something very substantial out of it and then, whether you love him or hate him, he’s ended up being a huge player, and like the draw recently with WWE, especially for people who aren’t full-timers, guys who come in and make appearances and runs and he’s great at what he does. Brock is amazing at what he does so I do not mind Brock ending the streak at all.”
Matt Hardy would ultimately take a lot of inspiration from The Undertaker including the multiple ways his character has evolved through the years. Broken Matt Hardy, the benevolent being that has lived for thousands of years inside of the vessel of Matt Hardy the professional wrestler, will be the subject of Matt Hardy’s podcast for the next 5 weeks beginning on March 4.
