Matt Cardona Reacts To WWE Featuring Internet Championship After Not Allowing Him To Wear It On TV
Matt Cardona reacts to his Internet Championship being featured in an official WWE Championship history book.
Back in 2011, Zack Ryder was the big name in wrestling utilizing social media to his advantage. With that reputation came a custom-made internet Championship from Wildcat Belts.
Matt Cardona, the man that played the character, has stated several times that WWE would never let him actually wear the title on TV and even stated that he was told he was a mark for himself for calling himself the Internet Champion.
Now, it has been featured in the “Others” category of the new WWE Championship book that was released recently. Matt Cardona reacted to this, laughing that he was never actually able to wear the Championship on TV and WWE is still touting it as part of their legacy.
Despite Zack Ryder never using the title on TV, it was featured in several WWE video games starting with WWE 13 in 2012. 2012 is also the year that the book refers to the WWE Internet Championship no longer being in existence. Cardona was not released by the company until 2020.
I wasn’t allowed to use the Internet Championship I created on @WWE TV. But it’s featured in the new WWE Championship book. LOL. pic.twitter.com/8hwjg5qa1P
