Matt Cardona: Nobody In NWA Thanked Me For The House, Which Was Disrespectful

Matt Cardona is now the face that runs the National Wrestling Alliance.

Cardona won the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship from Trevor Murdoch at NWA PowerrrTrip, which will air at a later date on FITE TV.

Cardona made his NWA debut at Hard Times 2, immediately targeting Murdoch and the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.

Now that Cardona has captured the belt, he believes the locker room is not happy.

“They don’t like me,” Cardona said about the NWA locker room when asked how they felt on Busted Open Radio. “They did not like me when I walked in the first day, they did not like me when I walked into Oak Grove, Kentucky. First of all, they should be thanking me because nobody knows where Oak Grove, Kentucky is and it sold out because of me. Nobody thanked me for the house, which I thought was disrespectful. Afterwards, I’m expecting this big standing ovation, a couple of hugs, even some BS high fives. Nothing. It was like a ghost town. i was the last person to leave that dressing room. Nobody gave me a high Five. Nobody said ‘congrats,’ nobody even gave me a BS pat on the back. Do I take it personally? No, I get it, business is business. I’m not here to make friends. I understand, I’m coming in and taking their spot. A lot of these guys have been busting their ass for so long and they thought this was going to be their opportunity or they thought this was going to be their comeback and I said, ‘Nope, this is my time.’ I understand why they don’t like it, but, tough shit.'”

Cardona previously said that Murdoch was someone who “treated him like shit.” You can find his full comments by clicking here

Cardona is set to appear on Tuesday’s NWA Powerrr. Fightful will have full results from the show following the conclusion of the event.
