Matt Cardona has dropped some teasers about his opponent at NWA 74.

The former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion has been sidelined in recent months due to a torn bicep, but he’ll be back in action against a handpicked opponent at NWA 74.

In an interview with Scott Fishman of TVInsider, Cardona was asked about the match. He stated it will be a first-time bout, but he believes his opponent is the future of the NWA. The former world champion also stated that he won’t be doing a Money in the Bank style cash-in on NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Trevor Murdoch or his opponent, Tyrus.

“It’s a mystery to everyone else, but not to me. It is a first-time match. I know people think I’m going to Money in the Bank cash-in style on Trevor Murdoch or Tyrus. I’m not going to do that. Don’t worry. I got someone in mind. I think this person is the future of NWA. Let’s see if this kid can hang,” Cardona said.

Ahead of his return to the ring, Cardona reflected on the journey he has been on in recent years. He stated that 2022 has already been crazy, and he’s excited to show the world what he can do now that he’s healthy again.

“The past two years since I was released from WWE have been my absolute favorite. The most successful I’ve ever been in my whole wrestling career. It’s so much fun; 2022 has been crazy. What’s going to happen when I’m healthy now? We had our real wedding, our GCW wedding. Chelsea is now one-half of the Knockouts tag team champions at IMPACT,” Cardona said.

NWA president Billy Corgan recently discussed how Cardona “147%” fits into the equation of the NWA. You can check out his comments by clicking here.
