House of Glory Wrestling announced that Matt Cardona will defend the HOG Heavyweight Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi at the High Intensity event on August 18. The show will stream on Premier Streaming Network. Tickets are available here.

HOG High Intensity will mark Tanahashi’s debut for the promotion. He is one of the top stars in NJPW, where he is a former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Tanahashi currently holds the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship wiith Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii.
In a tweet, Cardona responded to the announcement and noted that it wasn’t fair, as he has never wrestled Tanahashi before. He questioned what Tanahashi did to earn a title shot, and he vowed to prove why he is the “Indy God.”
Cardona won the HOG Heavyweight Championship by beating Jacob Fatu at HOG Beware The Fury on May 19.
HOG High Intensity will also feature a No Holds Barred Match between Eddie Kingston and Charles Mason, among other bouts.
