Match Ratings For WWE Raw From 6/3/19 From Sean Ross Sapp

Drew McIntyre & The Revival defeated The Usos & Roman Reigns
6/10

  • ICYMI the wild card rule is in FULL EFFECT.
  • We get a miserably pointless series of promos from Roman Reigns and Shane McMahon, before they’re joined by Drew McIntyre. Fortunately this was really short.
  • The Revival attack Reigns from behind, before The Usos save him.
  • There’s some really exceptional work here, which is to be expected.
  • Shane McMahon keeps getting involved, allowing McIntyre to take out Reigns with a Claymore.
  • Shatter Machine outside and a Claymore finish off the Usos
  • This match made Revival and Drew McIntyre all look like great heels.
  • The heels all attack Roman Reigns after the match. This was a great use of Roman Reigns to build a little heat on heels.

MIZ TV

  • Seth Rollins comes out and says he’d be relieved if Brock cashed in tonight.
  • Lesnar and Heyman pull up and pretend they’re going to cash in.
  • Brock instead holds off and walks around backstage.
  • Brock Lesnar is disrespecting Money in the Bank” is among the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen WWE push as a storyline point. I waited the entire weekend hoping that I misunderstood them or that they’d clear that up. Nope, just a stupid, nonsensical story point.

Lars House Party

  • Lucha House Party come out, and Lars starts beating the shit out of them.
  • LHP gain control and dropkick him out of the ring.
  • This is a good way to make Lucha House Party look like they have a chance, while still keeping Lars strong.

Lacey Evans defeated Charlotte Flair via DQ
2.5/10

  • Becky Lynch is in the ring saying that she’s never been more content than she is now.
  • She’s joined by Lacey Evans, who jaw jacks back and forth. Becky makes fun of her accent.
  • THE WILD CARD IS IN EFFECT as Charlotte Flair comes out next. She tells them to hold the ropes for them.
  • Charlotte Flair references her title reigns in relation to her father’s. Is that the first time she’s personally done that on the air?
  • Charlotte vs. Lacey on Raw seems like a throwaway. They’re such strong characters that I figured they’d have a big first-time PPV match down the line.
  • Lacey attacks Charlotte before the match.
  • This is a sloppy, slimy mess.
  • “We want Becky” chants from the crowd.
  • Charlotte and Lacey do not have chemistry against one another. Man.
  • This is a botchfest. One of the worst matches I’ve seen on Raw in a while.
  • It’s like they aren’t on the same page on ANYTHING.
  • Becky attacks both women, and the DQ happens. This was so, so bad.
  • Good on @WWEGraves mentioning the winner’s purse.

U.S. Title

  • Rey Mysterio is out to drop the United States Title. They show Joe’s shoulder up during their match.
  • Joe comes out to lecture Rey Mysterio.
  • Mysterio voluntarily relinquishes the title to Samoa Joe.
  • Normally I wouldn’t like forfeiting a title to someone else. Considering the nature of the title change and that it’s to a heel, okay.
  • Joe attacks Rey,
  • When was the last time a wrestler forfeited a title in WWE directly to someone else? I know Bulldog gave Al Snow the Hardcore title, and D-Lo gave Mark Henry the European title, but maybe HBK forfeiting the IC title to Dean Douglas?

ARM Wrestling

  • There’s a big tease until they finally arm wrestle.
  • Strowman wins, and this gets a better reaction than I expected.
  • Lashley throws powder in Strowman’s face.

Nikki Cross (w/ Alexa Bliss) defeated Peyton Royce (w/ Billie Kay)

  • The IIconics are backstage trolling Nikki Cross. Alexa Bliss shows up to support her, with some pretty bad scripted dialogue.
  • It’s good to see Nikki Cross being used.
  • Peyton is very aggressive, but there’s no real heat to this match.
  • It’s sad to hear the lack of reaction to this. Fortunately Nikki gets them at least making noise.
  • A stagehand brings coffee out to Alexa, and Billie spills it all over Alexa.
  • The distraction lets Nikki win with The Purge.
  • Alexa is livid and throws a mean dropkick and DDT on Billie.
  • Alexa is Orange Cassidy but with coffee.
  • I don’t remember a real extended period where Alexa Bliss has been active in the ring and hasn’t been in a title picture. At least the tag title picture is a change of pace.

CASH IN?

  • Rollins comes out and says he knew he’d have a target on his back.
  • Brock’s music hits, but he doesn’t come out.
  • Seth Rollins dares Lesnar to come out. Instead, he gets BARON CORBIN.
  • Brock Lesnar, Baron Corbin. Same difference.
  • Baron’s SPOILIN’ FOR A FIGHT. A brawl breaks out.
  • Lesnar’s music hits again and Corbin nails him with End of Days.
  • The music hits again, and Brock has a steel chair and a ref.
  • Brock Lesnar hits Rollins in the ballsack and beats him with a chair.
  • German Suplex and chair shots. F5 on the floor and more chair shots.
  • Brock says he’ll cash in on Friday.
  • I like Brock beating the shit out of Seth and not cash in. We didn’t need the weird McMahon “he’s disrespecting the BRIEFCASE” deal.
  • That was an amazing beat down from Lesnar on Rollins. I don’t get why he didn’t cash in, but hey.

FUNHOUSE

  • Firefly Funhouse time. This one’s about the gym.
  • Bray Wyatt referring to his Husky Harris character in the new Firefly Funhouse.
  • There’s a DEVIL VINCE that tries to fire Bray.
  • Instead Bray does a workout dance video.
  • This is the best Firefly Funhouse I’ve seen

Backstage Crappenings

  • Carmella is backstage looking for Truth.
  • Smackdown wrestlers that aren’t champions on Raw tonight: Randy Orton, Carmella, Lars Sullivan, Charlotte, Roman Reigns. Woops.

NUTSACKS

  • Triple H comes out to “NXT” chants
  • Orton interrupts.
  • HHH says he’s going to kick Orton’s ass in Jeddah, and Orton’s not the one to put him away.
  • Orton wants Triple H to retrieve his balls from Stephanie’s purse.
  • Good old fashioned ballsack promo. Triple H says maybe he can fit his in the overhead bin but Orton’s never had any.
  • Solid. Quick. To the point. About balls.

Ricochet defeated Cesaro
6.25/10

  • These matches between these two are so good. They just go 100 miles an hour.
  • Ricochet did a …………running…….tornado……..head scissors? Wow
  • This match is really hard to put into words as far as physical accomplishments.
  • The chemistry here is off the charts. Even the botches are good.
  • Ricochet rolls Cesaro up.
  • “Cesaro knew how important this match was.” Huh? They’ll just face each other again next week, lol.
  • Cesaro pulls out a table, but R-Truth is laying on it. That was fantastic.
  • Everyone chases down R-Truth and everyone looks like dumbasses.
  • Cedric Alexander flips onto the pile.
  • It’s Drake Maverick and Truth, but Carmella superkicks him.

Undertaker

  • Taker is here.
  • He doesn’t want the family man, Goldberg. He wants the mythical icon.
  • He barely gets in his line.

Rating guide

10- Perfect, 9- MOTY Territory, 8- Excellent, 7- Great, 6- Good, 5- Average to above average, 4- Slightly below average, 3 or below: Poor

Each match starts at a 5 and slides up and down based on entertainment, execution, time, environment, reaction and stakes. The ratings are in no way an indication of a “star rating,” which is a completely different system. A standard, non-offensive “TV match” lands at a 5.The gap between 5.75-6 is generally the largest, with anything reaching 6 being recommended viewing.
These are opinions, and incredibly inconsistent ones. Don’t take them too seriously, and have (and share) your own!
