Mark Henry Explains Why He Wants One More Match When He’s 50

Mark Henry hasn’t stepped inside the ring since the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018, but he’s looking for one more match to cap off his career.

Henry hasn’t wrestled a singles match since February 2017 when he lost to Braun Strowman on WWE Raw and though he’s 49 years old, he wants to step into the ring one more time after he passes age 50.

Speaking to Booker T on Booker’s Hall of Fame podcast, Henry explained why he wants one more match after he turns 50 on June 12.

“There’s a lot of kids who didn’t get to see me wrestle. It’s been enough time that has passed. Also, I quit before I had a last match,” he explained. “Before I waved at everybody and had the pink jacket on. I did not get that match where you go and pay tribute to the fans and wrestle somebody that is up-and-coming and talented and you give them ‘the rub.’ I didn’t do that and I feel guilty. I figured, I’m gonna wait until I’m 50 so the expectation is lower and you don’t expect me to go out there and have a 20-minute five star match. I’m gonna go out there in really good shape, I’m already 80 pounds lighter than I was in my last match, and it’s going to take a good man to beat me, but it might not take them long. I don’t know where it’s going to be, but the money has got to be right. I want oxygen at Gorilla when I walk through the curtain, all green M&Ms, a Porkchop sandwich [laughs].”

Henry recently said he would come out of retirement for a match against reigning NXT UK Champion WALTER.
