Maria Kanellis Discusses How Beyond The Belles Came Together, Wanting The Series To Continue

Maria Kanellis has some high praise for LuFisto.

Prior to Ring of Honor’s current hiatus, Maria Kanellis was heading up the promotion’s women’s division. When appearing on the ROH Strong Podcast, when broached about the subject of the company’s women’s division, Kanellis had quite the praise for independent women’s wrestling star LuFisto, who is the host of ROH’s Beyond The Belles Podcast, which takes a deep-dive into the company’s blossoming women’s division.

“I really wanted a way of getting LuFisto involved and Alyssa. Bobby had brought up Alyssa before as Quinn was moving away from backstage, bringing Alyssa in, but budget-wise it was impossible. I wanted to continued doing Women’s Division Wednesday, but I also wanted it to be more than one match. This all kind of came together and what better person than LuFisto to talk about a changing world of women’s wrestling than someone that created so many changes and was known for being this intergender wrestler that was able to breakdown barriers and Alyssa, who is so smart and a wealth of knowledge about women’s wrestling. It was a great pairing, we had great chemistry right from the get-go. I really enjoyed it. We’re going to continue it in some form or fashion, I don’t know exactly what it’s going to be after the new year. Beyond The Belles is continuing, this panel is going to keep moving forward. There is so much women’s wrestling to talk about and as these bigger Indies continue to grow in this digital age, I like talking about those matches that are out there and getting so much buzz, whether it’s at Beyond Wrestling or Warrior Wrestling or PWG when they have an intergender match every now and again or down in Texas. There is a lot of great women’s wrestling out there. We’re going to continue to do the show. Stay tuned for that, whether it ends up on Ring of Honor YouTube or a brand new YouTube page.”

Maria, alongside husband Mike Kanellis both appeared at ROH: Final Battle, where Mike and tag partner Matt Taven of OGK lost their tag titles against Jay and Mark Briscoe.
