Mandy Rose Says Backstage Segment With Otis At WrestleMania 36 Wasn’t Scripted
The second most-viewed WWE YouTube video from WrestleMania 36 is the backstage segment involving Mandy Rose and Otis. The video, as of this writing, sits at 3.6 million views, barely trailing Drew McIntyre winning the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar.
And the popularity of the video might be attributed to the genuine and natural reactions from Otis and Mandy following their WrestleMania moment.
“That was just us, off-script, being ourselves,” said Rose in an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. “I was shocked it got so many views. We’re really thankful that people are enjoying this.”
Rose has previously said that she pitched the idea of working with Otis to Vince McMahon before the storyline came together. The input has extended beyond the pitch with Rose saying everyone has chipped in to make sure the storyline has stayed together.
“It’s hard to get in Vince’s office, but I finally got in and I pitched this story. He loved it, he had some ideas, and then Sonya and I had a lot of say in the creative, which was really cool. We were able to write a lot of it. We all worked together, and that’s one of the reasons it’s worked so well. Everyone’s been really passionate about it.”
Unfortunately, Andrea Listenberger, who worked as a writer on the storyline was part of the recent WWE cutbacks.
Mandy is set to take on Carmella in a Monday In The Bank qualifying match on Friday’s SmackDown.
