Malakai Black To Miss Northeast Wrestling Event ‘Due To Health Issues’
Malakai Black will miss an upcoming independent event.
Northeast Wrestling announced Black will not appear at the September 9 Northeast Wrestling event due to “health issues.”
Jay Lethal and nZo will take his place.
Malakai wrestled at AEW All Out in a trios match, teaming with Brody King & Buddy Matthews in a losing effort to Miro, Sting & Darby Allin.
After the bout, Black took a bow at the top of the ramp and blew a kiss to the crowd. The gesture was not shown on television.
Fightful Select reported on Wednesday, “Numerous talent informed us that they’ve been told that Malakai Black is done with the company for the foreseeable future, with many saying that he got his release. AEW sources claim that the release is highly conditional, which isn’t usually the case for the company.”
Tony Khan did not comment on Black’s status with AEW in the post-show media scrum.
PWInsider first reported Black would miss the Northeast Wrestling event.
Fightful will continue to update fans on Black’s status as it is known.
