Maki Itoh On Potential Tour In The U.S.: If I Appear Too Often, The Magic Of Maki Itoh Is Gone
Maki Itoh isn’t considering a lengthy tour in the United States.
Whenever a wrestler becomes popular in a certain country or territory, it’s likely that the performer will eventually go on a tour in a overseas country in order to further their worldwide popularity. This is currently the case for TJPW star and Itoh’s tag team partner Miyu Yamashita, who is set to start a three month tour in the United States at the end of March.
In a new interview with Fightful, Maki Itoh went on record and noted that she hasn’t thought about about a long international tour because over saturation would hurt her brand.
“I have not thought about doing it at all. If I appear too often, the magic of Maki Itoh is gone. Artificial scarcity is important to me. It’s important for the Maki Itoh branding. I don’t want to do a long-term, three-month thing, one or two weeks is fine. For my brand, artificial scarcity is important for the American audience to appreciate me.”
Throughout her short runs in the United States, Itoh has wrestled for promotions like AEW, GCW, and Prestige Wrestling.
Elsewhere in the interview, Itoh talked about her goals in TJPW. Fans can learn more by clicking here.
