Main Event Announced For Clash of Champions

WWE’s spin on a WCW classic show has it’s main event.

WWE announced that WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens would be defending his title against former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins on the show. Rollins unsuccessfully challenged for the Universal title at both Summerslam and last week’s Raw.

Kevin Owens became champion last week, when he defeated Rollins, Roman Reigns and Big Cass in an elimination match. Since then, he’s been touted by tag team partner Chris Jericho as the ‘longest reigning Universal Champion’ of all-time.

Rollins attacked Owens during his WWE Universal Championship coronation on Monday’s episode of Raw.

It was rumored that Finn Balor was originally set to defend against Owens at the Clash of Champions show before sustaining a shoulder injury.

Clash of Champions takes place September 25 from Indianapolis, Indiana.
