Luke Gallows: We Don’t Have To Say Sports Entertainment Anymore, We Can Say WWE Wrestler
Wrestling is back.
WWE has touted its “New Era” since WrestleMania XL weekend with much of the on-screen praise falling to Triple H and his vision for things. Many changes have been noticeable, including the word “wrestling” being used as opposed to “sports entertainment,” a phrase coined by Vince McMahon.
Speaking on Talk’n Shop, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson had the following exchange:
Gallows: We don’t have to say sports entertainment anymore. You’re allowed to be a WWE wrestler. Wrestler.
Anderson: Wrestler.
Gallows: Wrestler. You can say, ‘I wrestle for the WWE.’ You’re not going to get in trouble if you don’t say ‘I’m a sports entertainer.’ I remember Stone Cold saying, ‘Are you a wrestler or sports entertainer?’
Anderson: When did Stone Cold say that?
Gallows: I think he asked on a podcast and at that point we had drank all the Stone Cold IPAs. We said, ‘Hell yeah, we’re wrestlers.’
Gallows & Anderson both stated that they were fans of Triple H, calling themselves “Triple H Guys.”
