Louisiana’s Banned Moves List Grows, WWE And ROH Exempt

The Louisiana Boxing and Wrestling Commission keeps making things harder for independent wrestling promotions.

Last month, it was reported Louisiana does not be allow piledrivers or blood in professional wrestling and the commission would be issuing fines to performers and promotions accordingly. This week, David Bixenspan reported the commission has even more moves banned and the rules only apply to certain wrestling promotions

A lawyer representing one of the commission members sent a document which outlined the rules Louisiana intended to enforce. Besides piledrivers, there are some other common professional wrestling moves banned including moonsaults and power bombs.

The following is a list of the banned moves.

1. All variations of the Pile Driver;

2. All variations of the Power Bomb;

3. The “Moonsault”, “Shooting Star”, or “450 Splash” or any variation thereof which involves one wrestler, leaping or flipping off the ropes or turnbuckles to contact the head or neck of the opponent with any part of his body;

4. The “Stungun” of any variation thereof which results in the one fighter’s head or neck being dragged, draped or “closelined” [sic] across the ropes;

5. The striking of a wrestler’s head with any object, chair, trashcan [sic] lid, etc., and

6. No wrestler shall throw, push, shove or force another out of the ring or over the top rope.

The lawyer also said WWE and Ring of Honor would be exempt from these rules because the commission trusts the level of training those wrestlers have. There will be a representative at every event during Wrestlemania week who can give permission to wrestlers and promoters to perform the above moves.
