At IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United 2, IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi teamed up with Mike Bailey to face IMPACT X-Division Champion Lio Rush and Trey Miguel. In the closing moments of the match, Rush hit Takahashi below the belt and pinned him for the win.

After the bell, Rush grabbed a microphone and targeted Takahashi with his message. He stated that a lot has changed since they last faced off, as the NJPW star wasn’t the only champion in town anymore.

Rush then challenged Takahashi to defend the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against him. He claimed that the title should have been his a long time ago. Takahashi seemingly accepted the challenge, and Rush said he would see him at another time and place. Bailey was clearly frustrated,as he won the All Star Junior USA Tournament, and Takahashi accepted his challenge to a title match.

Rush previously challenged Takahashi for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship at the NJPW New Japan Cup Final on March 21. He then competed in the Best of the Super Junior 30, where he defeated Takahashi in a non-title match.

At IMPACT Slammiversary, Rush defeated Chris Sabin to win the IMPACT X-Division Championship.

As of this writing, there is no word on when or if Rush will face Takahashi.
