Lio Rush Calls Out WWE For Using Recent Releases As An Angle

Lio Rush isn’t too happy with how WWE has been handling its recent releases and using it as a storyline on NXT programming.

Drake Maverick was one of many wrestlers, employees and producers that were released or furloughed back in April. However, Maverick was able to continue wrestling as he previously was announced to compete in the Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship tournament. Maverick wrestled all the way to the finals, where he lost to El Hijo Del Fantasma, but was given a contract after the match by Triple H.

Rush, who was also part of the mass layoffs, took to Twitter to discuss how disappointed he is to see WWE use someone’s firing as an angle on NXT television, saying it’s “kind of a slap in the face to use this as a shoot work.”

After someone replied commenting on him possibly coming back to WWE, Rush simply explained why he thinks it is messed up for WWE to do this type of thing for a storyline on television.
